School Visits Excursion to Great Ryrie and Bayswater North primary schools.
As part of the Cultural Diversity week, the Year 10 Indonesian students, together with Pak Iwan and Pak Aji, teachers from Indonesia visited the above two schools and taught the Grades 5 & 6 students some language and cultural lessons. Our students taught them dances, Angklung playing, Sepak takraw and top spinning. “It is wonderful learning the Indonesian dances and then teaching others”, Nick Bowers and Matt Yeske.
“I am gaining more confidence speaking in Indonesian as I teach others. We should do this more often”, Tegan Smirl. The primary school students were very enthusiastic and participative. Besides providing wonderful teaching and learning opportunities for students, these visits also build goodwill between the schools, and we hope to continue this positive relationship by sharing Indonesian resources and professional practices.
